Formation control

Distributed coordination of robot swarms: collective motions, circular formations and dispersion shapes.

How can many robots move as one without a leader? I study distributed formation control laws in which each robot uses only local, relative information. Topics include leaderless collective motion of affine formations obtained by modifying the weights of the Laplacian, collision-free circular formations of robots with different constant speeds, dispersion formation control that bridges shape assembly in physics and biology with control theory, and formation flight of fixed-wing drones that cannot change their speed.
